Welcome back to the woods. Today, we are finishing up our spring flower planting, but our day begins deep in the forest. Join me and my trail cat, Checkers, as we finish the second half of our walk through our 50-acre Mississippi pine forest. Along the way, I share our upcoming plans for managing the timber, thinning the thick canopy to let the sunlight through, and clearing an opening for a wild deer food plot.

From the dense woods, the trail leads us right back to the homestead where the spring garden is finally waking up. I take you on a quiet tour of the flower beds to see how the fall-planted snapdragons and bachelor’s buttons are blooming, before kneeling down to plant the very last of our summer-ready zinnia seedlings. We end this peaceful day exactly where we shouldโ€”watching the cats enjoy the warm afternoon sun in the garden.

If you enjoy these quiet glimpses into rural country life, please consider subscribing to join us for the journey ahead.
