Gardening can be a fun, relaxing, beautiful hobby, but it can certainly take a toll on your body.
Those hours of bending, kneeling, digging, and ploughing aren’t for the faint-hearted, and it can be tough keeping up the hobby as you get older.
While there isn’t a magic solution to getting your body back to your 20s or 30s, there are devices available at places like Bunnings and Amazon that can alleviate some of the biggest pain points in gardening.
You can pick up what’s called a seat-kneeler, which is a handy device that you can carry around the garden and give your knees a rest.
Aussie horticulturalist and avid gardener, Sabrina Hahn, has been using one for years and told Yahoo Lifestyle they are incredible.
“They’re really good,” she said.

“It’s really sturdy, and I use it because I’m 70, so my knees are rooted.
“It’s a great thing, particularly for older gardeners, or people who have bad knees, or problems with walking.”
They have two main functions.

Sabrina Hahn said products like these have been a game-changer for older Aussies.
If you turn the device one way, it acts as a seat and allows you to get your gardening done while resting your back and legs.
But if your task requires you to be closer to the ground, you can flip it around, and it has padding to protect your knees so you can get stuck in.
Sabrina said one of the best features is the handles on each side, which are essential for older folk who might need something to hold onto while getting up or down.
Some seat-kneelers available online also come with an attachment where you can put all your tools so you don’t have to carry them around.
Bunnings sells two, one for $19 that is much lighter, and another for $52 that’s much more sturdy.

The device allows you to sit or kneel depending on what you need to do in the garden.
The latter has been praised by shoppers, with the item holding a 4.8 rating out of 5 after nearly 200 reviews.
“Invaluable for those with troublesome knees. All of this in one compact product, what a pleasure at a value for money price,” said one.
“Great product and has made gardening a whole lot easier. Very reasonable price and appears to be very sturdy,” added another.
“We bought one for use in our garden. After realising how good it was, we bought a second one for my wife to use. I find it particularly useful in helping me to stand up after kneeling down as I have old knees,” wrote a third.
Kmart and Amazon also sell a different version for $37 and $40.
But it’s clear this product isn’t just favoured by older Aussies.
It’s been posted about on social media, and people much younger are keen to protect their backs and knees while gardening.
“I’m 19 and this very much needed,” wrote one person.
“I’m not yet even in 30s but I need this,” added another.
