It’s my first time growing bush beans. How many should I expect?

The hard part is that you’ve got to keep harvesting them to encourage them to grow more beans and at a certain point, it’s like… there are simply too many beans.

A significant amount probably 2 grocery bags full at peak

Let’s just say your neighbors are gonna love you.

With that many, assuming they are productive I would guess 1-2 lbs per week during it’s peak.

Get ready for several pounds of beans! like that patch can easily
grow 10-20lb of beans. i like them as its very satisfying to reach in and grab a handful at a time. if you get sick of harvesting fresh green beans you just let them dry on the plant and then you have shelling beans. beans 👍 theyre easy af

Don’t be alarmed when you put your head beneath the canopy searching for hidden beans, you may hear jungle drums.

The poof! They go from being stickly to bushes before you know it.

Also there are so many varieties with cool colors.

Looking great, but too many plants for that box I’m afraid

Time to get a freezer for winter. Blanche them then freeze eat them in the winter when theyre expensive.

A row like that would get me 15-20 quarts canned over the course of a month or so, as well as plenty of fresh meals with scratcher potatoes!

Canned spicy or regular dilly beans are delicious and easy to make!

I follow the ball canning guide using apple cider and white vinegar, fresh dill, jalapenos, pickling spices like dill seed, coriander, white pepper, pickling salt, etc.

    Happy beaning!!

Ours just finished up. Once they started coming, we picked about two big fistfuls daily for three weeks.

I have so many vac packs of green beans in the freezer!

Curious to know how many you planted? I am going to try them for the first time soon

Edit: disregard I read the thread and saw you say 15-20 😊

As numberless as stars in the summer sky

I grew Austrian winter peas in the same bed through winter and chopped them up in the bed and covered them in soil

All of them. The answer is all the beans. 🤣
