EXPERT horticulturalists got the chance to showcase their amazing growing skills at an event in Greenock last weekend.
The team at Caddlehill Allotment Gardens hosted a plant sale at their base in Kelly Street on May 30.

People from all over Inverclyde and beyond got the chance to browse the amazing array of bedding plants, perennials, and vegetable plants grown locally.
There was also a tombola, a craft stall, and some delicious home-baking for sale.
The event raised around £2,000 for the gardens, with the final profits still to be confirmed.

Caddlehill Allotment Gardens secretary Michelle Hamlet said the event welcomed around 50 people through the doors who were new to the group and three people joined the waiting list for their own plots.
Plants on sale included those that had been grown from scratch by the club and items cultivated and donated by individual plot holders.

Most of the items were priced at £3 or less.
Michelle said the success of the event has spurred the group on for its plant show in August.

She said as well as generating money, the events help raise awareness of the gardens and what they do.
Michelle added: “We’re helping people to buy locally instead of buying plants from supermarkets that have travelled a distance.
“Our plants are better quality and they’re lower in price.
“Some people who have had plots for 20 or 30 years, so they’re always on-hand to give advice, and share their knowledge and their skills.”
