SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens is partnering with ESP (Extra Special People) Savannah this summer to host one of the community’s most impactful programs, ESP Summer Camp. The two-week experience is designed to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Throughout the camp, the Gardens will serve as a gathering place where campers, volunteers and families can connect through activities focused on friendship, inclusion and belonging. Organizers say this year’s program marks a significant milestone for ESP Savannah, which has doubled the size of its summer camp.
As part of the partnership, Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens and ESP Savannah are inviting community members to attend Friend Friday, a special opportunity to experience the energy and impact of camp firsthand. Friend Fridays are scheduled for June 26 and July 17, with the June 26 event also celebrating ESP’s 40th birthday.
Campers begin each day with Welcome Wagon, a tradition featuring music, dancing, costumes, cheers and enthusiastic volunteers. Guests can also take part in Flag, a camp-wide gathering filled with songs, skits and community-building activities.
“We are honored to partner with ESP Savannah and welcome campers and their families to the Gardens this summer,” said Elise Zador, director of Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens. “We invite our community to join us for Friend Friday and experience firsthand the transformational power of inclusion.”
Friend Friday events are open to community members, families, businesses and organizations. Registration is required, and organizers say space is limited.
