Covent Garden resident David Essex is giving fans the chance to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime backstage experience while helping to protect wildlife around the world.

The singer, songwriter and actor has donated an exclusive meet-and-greet package to a charity auction raising funds for the Wildlife & Conservation Foundation.

The prize includes two tickets to a concert on David’s September UK tour, as well as the opportunity to meet the star backstage after the show, take a photograph with him and receive a signed memento.

Essex, who now lives in Covent Garden, has enjoyed one of the most successful careers in British entertainment. Best known for hit songs including Rock On and Hold Me Close, he achieved 19 UK Top 40 singles and 16 Top 40 albums during a remarkable chart career.

The star has also enjoyed success on stage and screen, earning a BAFTA nomination for his role in That’ll Be the Day and an Olivier Award nomination for Evita.

The unique auction package has been donated to benefit the Wildlife & Conservation Foundation, with all net proceeds helping to fund wildlife protection campaign, The Campaign to ban Trophy Hunting.

Eduardo Gonçalves, founder of the Wildlife & Conservation Foundation, said: “David Essex is one of Britain’s most beloved performers and we are incredibly grateful for his support.

“This experience gives one lucky winner the opportunity to meet David in person, go backstage after the show and spend a few special moments with a true music legend.

“Every bid will help support our work challenging threats facing some of the world’s most iconic species.”
