We live in Central Victoria, Australia, on an off-grid property where we grow our food, raise animals and live lightly on this earth.
In this video you’ll learn what to sow and plant in June in cool regions of Australia.
It’s your last month to get your garlic in.
I hope you enjoy watching and you’re plants are growing strong.

Keep up the good work! Great videos and very informative.

Iβm growing all in pots, in Canberra. My peas and garlic are appearing through the soil and Iβm inspecting Brussel sprouts regularly to catch caterpillars.
Seeds have arrived and Iβll be planting kale, radishes, spinach. Some cornflowers for colour!
Informative as always! I'll be popping off those strawberry runners and replanting this week π
Unfortunately no winter veg yet, though a couple of early sown cabbages are coming along nicely. Another week & we're still getting tomatoes though I'm now suffering from a lot being eaten by grubs (I just threw out 3 arm fulls π’) but to be still getting tomatoes this late is a bonus, no chance of planting anything there during winter. I've already started planning when to start sowing the next crop of tomato seeds & which variety (after a big test last season of different ones to see what may suit us here) & we will be away for Christmas this this year so lots of planning around that (I was away for only 1 week last year at the beginning of November but it put me a month behind, plus I was late starting my seedlings anyway) I've been pretty disappointed with our early plannings of snow peas & peas to the point of building a new trellis in a slightly different location so the succession plantings will now go there. I may just throw a heap of saved pea seeds from last year on the new trellis (instead of starting them in the grow tent & on a heat mat like usual as I usually just sow 1 punnet of 6 seeds at a time) Surprisingly we are still getting capsicums & I'm continuing to plant out a little row of onions usually each week. I have almost a whole rack of them at different stages in the grow tent though I had a few punnets of seeds not even germinate, a new variety I tried, one 1 has struck from the whole packet. I've even tried them not on a heat mat to strike, in a different area in the grow tent, nothing has worked with them. I guess I won't by those again. Still lots happening out there, though we've had a fair bit of rain the last few days, full tanks which is great & all the irrigation is turned off (even under the olive trees where it is usually pretty dry even with rain) I have just noticed something has eaten some of the cornflowers I recently planted, no idea what likes them as I've never grown them before, the seeds were accidently supplied instead of a variety of corn last year so I may as well use them (at least I have some more in the grow tent ππCheers once again from across the border π (I'd better get back out there now that it's stopped raining π)
We have eaten our first wombok cabbage π Broccoli sprouts, pak choy, celery and other greens have been picked every couple of days. We have also eaten 2 stalks of Brussel sprouts. Some cauliflowers are nearly ready and plenty more about golf ball size. My garlic is starting to sprout too. Peas and snow peas in but resident rabbits are eating them π’
Used up the last of the fresh apples today making blueberry applesauce. Planted a few things yesterday but it will be very slow growing here in Tasmania now.
Ok, I need to plant more beans and peas. Thanks Amyπ
Wise lady.
Spinach and garlic are best in winters it will grow in negative temperatures even. Full of energy and iron watching from Pakistan π΅π°.
Your garden looks amazing! π How do you manage pests like aphids, caterpillars, and slugs? I seem to be constantly battling them in my garden and haven't had much luck getting rid of them. I'd love to hear any tips you have!
Love your nightshift shawl!! I knitted one last year π
Pulled two huge purple top swedes today. Carrots celery and silver beet. Garlic is emerging. Broad beans and peas growing slowly. Still some small beetroot in the polytunnel but I think they'll slow down through winter. Lots of cabbages coming through. Nothing like fresh cabbage. (Lithgow NSW 950m elev.)
Thanks Amy πΈ. I need to find a spot so I can plant some broad beans
Moved to a new property 3 weeks ago. I have focused on replenishing soil in veg patches & planting asap! I have left the unpacking for rainy days! Garlic & peas popping up, lettuces look great, planted onions today. It's a new zone for me so I think there will be some trial and errors! Also planted a winter crop in the patch where I intend to plant my tomatoes. I love getting my hands in the soil!
Iβm chitting some chick peas which Iβve never grown before βΊοΈ
Iβm behind again on planting so no harvest yet but loving the fresh growth in the garden as itβs like spring all over again π
Oh my god!!! Chop the peas down??? But they are the absolute best veggie in the whole world!! Nope, nope, nopeβ¦.if I have to, I will buy/scrounge more supports for other veggies πβ€β€
Love your videos Amy. I left my spring cabbages in the ground for regrowth of leaves for the chooks earlier this year, rather than pulling them out. 3 chooks have done well BUT…these cabbages have actually set hearts and we had one for tea yesterday. Didn't realise cabbages did that! I always leave some veggies to go to seed so plenty of Cos lettuce & silverbeet right now. Herbs have gone crazy so in the freezer with them. Brocollini heading up nicely and only planted at the beginning of May. Broad Beans, radish & garlic growing well. This is so exciting, out in the veggie patch first thing to check progress (which I know is ridiculous)…but it sets a tone of wellbeing for the day…thank you for your advice and look forward to video on pests. Could you also advise what, apart from cow & chook manure with an annual scattering of lime & blood n bone, is a good
soil improver. Never really sure what is enough or too much…kind regards
My peas and broad beans are just starting to come up, along with cabbage, radishes, silver beet and spring onions. Iβve had no luck with the kale, lettuce and spinach I sowed though. Iβll try again with the lettuce, and maybe just fill the gaps with fast growing radishes to keep the soil happy til spring? Always love seeing your garden and reading what others are planting.
Top of 11Β°c in my part of Victoria today. I've had wicked problems with slugs this year. I'm not sure what the difference is this year but the ducks just aren't keeping up. Beer traps are full each morning. Potatoes, lettuce and cabbage have all been effected. Ive had to resort to slug pellets. Bugger
