Thank you, Robbie and Gary, for covering this topic. I now know why I couldn't grow store-bought lettuce seeds (several tries in different conditions failed) in my otherwise bountiful garden. What little I could get to germinate wouldn't grow bigger than an inch tall! God bless everyone working to keep good seed lines strong. Passing good seed to the next generation may be more precious than money someday, when healthy food can no longer be found commercially anywhere. Love your channel! You've taught me so much and inspired me in many ways.

So as a beginner gardner this is something i needed to hear . I am trying things from seeds and i was going to save seeds to continue to use for the next year . Now im wondering what seeds i have most are from dollar stores if its worth saving seeds . I thought that was something we do do that they become adapted to your area and grow better . Now im really going to look into this .
I've always bought non GMO and organic seeds and have been BAFFLED for 2 years that my saved seed zucchini haven't produced AT ALL, with most of them not even germinating. You don't want to fear monger? We're in BIG trouble. That's how evil people get laws "passed" without a debate.
The real truth is the current monetary system has given certain people a LOT of power in the world. They only live to make their wealth grow exponentially and care nothing for their fellow humans' futures. We do not need this system and we do not need the bought off politicians who work for the rich because of the money system. We are seeing their destruction and lack of empathy right now in the middle east and here at home. To be a millionaire/billionaire you must be antisocial or psychopathic, it is not about your hard work or merit, it is really about what you are willing to do for it.
Yes, the yellow pear tomato seeds, I saved from my plant, grew beautiful plants, no flowers , no fruit.

Sadly, this has been going on since the 50's. I am waiting to hear that someone oopsied and lost seed from the original plants. Then that type of whatever it is at that time is just no logner around.

you cant get free plants. They do it so you HAVE to buy plants or seeds every year
Organic gardening soil works much better for planting seedlings not potting soil
I have been saving my heirloom seeds hope they grow.
Every year I till my garden and I get volunteers to pop up . Got a bunch of cucumbers, tomatoes,basil, and some sort of squash. I almost always let them grow. I picked a few cucumbers today from those volunteer plants. I have a bunch of flowers pop up too.

It's about the money. Greed. Forcing you to purchase repeatedly. Appallingly, it is in many things including medicine. A treatment for a rare cancer was stopped in It's tracks because a certain procedure was copyrighted. Read that back in the 80s.
My first thought while listening is/was how this affects our health. There we are trying to grow things without pesticides, etc., and now have to be concerned about the seeds being contaminated.

I always start my peas in a wet paper towel, snd this year they all rotted , and so did most of my beans , which is weird. I bought a jumbo pack of a big brand name green bean , many of them grew into vines instead of bush , and they made beans that weren't edible , they had no seeds inside and they were gross. Lots of people commented on it.

Thank you so much for covering this topic. I have been so frustrated with my old seeds from previous crops not sprouting and my other plants that I have had that produce poorly or not at all on the second year.
I have saved seeds from tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, potatoes, cantaloupe, all from food from the store, and they grow better a germanat better than store-bought seeds. 100 o/o grow rate.
When will God or the universe do us a favor?
Fortunately no GMO plants/seeds available for home growers in Australia. Our laws are very very strict
20 plus years ago I worked at seed packing facility in Ohio. With some of the seeds you were required to wears gloves and safety glasses. Even back then I thought how can this be safe.

So this breaks my heart for my 4 year old granddaughter. I've been growing her food that she likes and teaching her about saving seeds. This baby walks thru the garden grabbing peas and tomatoes and eating them on the spot just like her dad did 30 years ago. I don't agree with what the seed and food companies have been doing. I pray this gets changed. It seems the government and corporate America is choking us to death, literally.
