Join Rick Vuyst, co-host of the Gardening Simplified Show, for the fourth session of the Confidence in Bloom Gardening Series, a free Saturday morning seminar experience designed to inspire and empower gardeners of every level.

In this session, Planting Ideas in Your Head, Rick explores the world of perennials and cottage garden design, two topics that go hand in hand. From easy-to-grow favorites and long-blooming workhorses to the layered, romantic look of a true cottage garden, this session is packed with ideas you can start using the same weekend. Rick covers deer-resistant choices, shade solutions, fragrance, dividing plants, and the four reasons people love perennials: emergence, variety, economics, and activity.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a garden that feels like a Hallmark movie set, this one’s for you.

In this session you’ll discover:

– Easy-to-grow perennials that thrive in sun and shade with minimal care
How to design a cottage garden with layering, fragrance, and seasonal interest
– Rick’s favorite long-blooming perennials including daylilies, echinacea, hostas, and more
– Deer-resistant perennial choices that actually perform
– Tips for dividing perennials and building beds that get better every year
– The four essential cottage garden elements: roses, clematis, lilacs, and hydrangeas

  1. Thank you for the hard work you put in to this channel and all of the information you provide us. I love that you link the plants you discuss in the video down in the description box for easy reference. May God continue to bless you and your family ❤

  2. I love all the garden seminars. I look forward to watching them every week. Thank you so much for your hard work and excellent presentations.❤❤❤

  3. Great talk!
Many years ago I hated hosta. Realized it was because I only had two very old fashioned kind. With so many varieties now, I cannot have enough! Just wish I had more shade!

  4. Regarding the question about lemon coral sedum. She ask why it was labeled as a annual when she gets it back year after year. I had similar luck with it in the past but this last winter killed them all. I'd be pretty cheesed off if I planted them as perennial and lost them. Keep labeling them as an annual please.
