BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Growing season has arrived in Maine, and a local club has got you covered for all your planting needs.
Veazie Garden Club hosted their annual plant sale outside of 304 Stillwater Avenue furniture Saturday morning.
Members of the group each donated a variety of plants for the sale from their own gardens.
Items for sale included fruit and vegetable seedlings, succulents, perennials, annuals, and miscellaneous gardening tools.
All proceeds from the event benefited education programs and projects hosted by the club, including planting flowers in the community, including the town of Veazie and Eastern Maine Medical Center.
The club, which has existed for nearly 70 years, said that they have noticed a recent uptick in interest in gardening, particularly from younger generations.
“Young people today really want to learn more about gardening. I think COVID helped gardening an awful lot. And so, when they come to a sale like this, they talk to us, we always wind up getting a new member or two. We have so many good gardeners here that we can give them advice on the plant. It’s just a great way to spread the love for gardening.” said Barb Dalton, President of the Veazie Garden Club.
