We often think of garden paths as a series of steppingstones through a perennial bed, for example. But sometimes a more robust or longer path is needed, something that more resembles one of our local hiking trails. Todd Branham will present “Creating a Garden Path” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 9 in the Community Services Conference Room at 106 E. Morgan St., Brevard. Branham has built more than 360 miles of multi-use trails in 20 years, working with land managers, private landowners, special use groups and volunteers. He will talk about trail layout and designs which adhere to sustainable trail layout practices. He will also discuss construction methods that use different techniques like rolling grade dips, grade reversals, raised tread surfaces and downhill slops to shed water from the trail and avoid erosion.
