Last fall (October 2025) rescued a hydrangea that I wasn't sure about. Brought it home anyway. I used chatgpt and took a pic of it, and it advised me where to prune and how to nurse it back to health. Last week, I spotted the first leaves of new growth. I'm SO excited to see how it turns out 😊
Love watching your garden and cooking videos! I’ve learned so much and I’m taking your advice. On one of your videos I noticed a bench. What caught my eye was the cup holders on each side. Where could I purchase this particular bench?
Last year I bought 2 different varieties of Veronica plants to plant in honor of my 36 year old cousin,Veronica, who died last August. They each had loads of dried seed heads, 1 flower still in bloom and tons of greenish brown spotty leaves, spooky looking blackish stems and a few fresh looking leaves near the bottom. I took a chance and thought I'd at least get seeds, possibly. Anyway, I divided them each in two and planted them. They are coming up great this season in 6a. I can't wait to see the flowers when they come. I paid half price at a commercial nursery. By the way I tried scattering seeds, none took. That's ok though. I still have a total of 4 healthy plants now. 😊 I wish you had your channel set for community page to share photos of these plants when I bought them. They looked scary. 😂

Hello, I’m wonderfully surprised at your page. I love going to Lowe’s and finding all the great goodies. Thank you for your advice. It is very valuable. I purchased most of the plants that I have from the clearance section. I do, however have an additional suggestion that people should look for insects while they’re perusing through the plants. I brought home a plant two plants to be exact that were covered in aphis so much so that they could not be saved. I do have a question about the perennials. What overwintering can is required? Do I dig them up and store them somewhere or cover them and mulch? I’m very interested to see what your comments will be. Thank you.
I refuse to pay full price for plants, so yes, I shop the clearance racks! I’ve found my local Lowe’s puts plants on clearance when they get root bound and difficult to keep hydrated. I scored great deals on Dianthus and Creeping Phlox earlier this season. I’ll be checking the racks a couple of times a week through the fall.

In my town they take maybe a dollar off. So clearance is $23 instead of $24 and it's dead.

I run to the clearance racks. I have had more success with the plants I have "rescued".

Great video, great tips, Steph! Many thanks for sharing. I have purchased many plants from the Clearance Racks with mostly good success. It seems like every new perennial plant I have purchased this year has been so root bound. I live in Zone 8A, NC. It’s part of the reason the Garden Centers can’t keep the plants well watered. As you showed in your video you have to soak them in a bucket or tray before you can plant them. I’m a big fan of the clearance racks and dividing up full pots any chance I get!🥰. Take care. 👌🪴🥰

I bought Black and Bloom Salvia for 3.99 each at, of all places , Tru Value Hardware. They are gorgeous. I'm going back to see what else they may have marked down.

Just scored a big coreopsis this week for $4 on the clearance rack. Nothing wrong with it, other than being rootbound and having a small bent part. It's gorgeous.
I rescued a tomato from Lowe's this week. Not on sale, but suffering in its tiny pot. It will be fine!
Lowes have the best clearance racks but it is also dependent on the manager and location. I would drive to a location that is 10 miles further just because the manager is actually knowledgeable about plants and personally seen her watering plants on clearance rack (before I knew she was the manager). Some locations have to google the plants to know what you're looking for-not a good sign if you don't know what a hardy hibiscus is. Thanks for the tips.

We call the clearance section the plant ICU & the vast majority of my plants came from clearance sections. My best deal was at a nursery where the new owners were clearing out lots of overgrown, root bound plants or ones that just didn't look good. The 4 drift roses I was looking for turned into a truck bed full for 1/5 the price I would have paid for the plants at a big box store or another nursery.
Lowe's Clearance… Anything that is 2 dollars is still 2 dollars. I miss the days when they would just cut everything by half.
I can see Lowe's from my house (unfortunately for my garden budget)😅.
I'd venture to say that 80% of our plants have come from the clearance rack.

Just picked up 3 gerbera daisy last week that aide from needing deadheaded, are perfectly healthy.
Another tip, if your building pots or baskets, tell Chatgpt what Lowe's has on the clearance and to suggest combinations. It's my new gardening buddy.
