DUNWOODY, Ga. — The Dunwoody Garden Club finished its season in May with a successful biennial members’ garden tour and honoring its Member of the Year.

“Cul-de-Sac Cruising” garden tour showcased the front entrance gardens of five members living on cul-de-sacs in Dunwoody, club President Patsy Newton said.

Allison Metheny was named Member of the Year for her leadership in organizing the October 2025 event featuring renowned environmentalist Doug Tallamy. More than 450 people gathered at the Dunwoody High School auditorium to hear Tallamy speak about the importance of planting native habitats.

Members also celebrated the success of the club’s annual “Tallies, Tiles and Threads” fundraiser, which marked its 48th year in April.

More than half of the 48 members at the event had children who graduated from Dunwoody High School, Newton said. In recognition of that connection, members voted to contribute from the fundraiser proceeds to “Bring It Home: One Family, One Field,” the campaign to build a new stadium for the school, she said.

On July 2, the club will dedicate a Blue Star Memorial at the Veteran’s Memorial in Brook Run Park.

Additional club projects and contributions include installation of the Libby statue at the entrance to the Dunwoody Library, as well as the continued maintenance of the entrance to Brook Run Park, the entrance and atrium at the Dunwoody Library and the perennial garden at Windwood Hollow Park.
