Hello fellow gardeners. I need some advice to keep birds away from my peppers and tomato plants. The birds have been taking the tops/leaves off the pepper plants and tomatoes or just completely pulling them up roots and all. I have some reflective pin wheels, shiny tape, and other doo-dads that have helped in the past. This year it seems like the birds have outsmarted me and just don’t give a f about my deterrents.
Has anyone had this issue before and have a solution? I know it’s birds because I’ve seen them on camera and had the same issue last year. I’m just tired of having to start all over with my tomatoes and jalapeños!
Thanks for any input.

You need MORE reflective pinwheels. I see two pinwheels guarding two plants. You need two pinwheels per plant. I basically staked my greens on pinwheels after the pigeons kept devouring them, and now they haven’t taken so much as a nibble.
I love your puppy.
Maybe try a fake owl.
Have you tried netting them? Either bed net or insect netting.

Not the best pic, but I create a little plant jail around my seedlings until they get established. Wrap chicken wire around the cage. Create a hat for it. Clip it together. If you need something for the entire season use netting.
My nemesis is squirrels, but this should keep out the birds.
