Tour Of My Container Garden In May

Come and join me for a little wander around my container garden in May.

Everything is starting to look so full and colourful now and in this video I talk you through all the plants I’m growing in pots here in my UK garden (Zone 9a).

Container gardening is one of my favourite ways to garden because it’s perfect for:
🌸 Beginner gardeners
🌿 Small spaces
💰 Gardening on a budget
☀️ Adding instant colour and interest

In this garden tour I’ll share lots of ideas for planting pots and containers, along with the plants that are doing really well for me right now in May.

Whether you’ve got a tiny patio, a balcony, or just want to add more pots around your garden, I hope this gives you lots of inspiration 🌱

If you enjoy beginner-friendly gardening tips, seasonal garden tours and budget garden ideas, I’d love you to subscribe and join our lovely gardening community.

Happy gardening!

  1. A gorgeous display! I love checking on the plants in the morning, so excited to see new growth. Great advice Sophie x

  2. Our last garden was container only and looked fab, i'm a big advocate of container gardening and continue to use them in my new garden alongside all the stuff in the ground 😊

  3. Hi Sophie, I love your garden and the abundance of plants you grow ❤ Could you tell us what variety the pittosporum is? Greetings from Germany 😊

  4. Hi Sophie. Can you give us an idea of what makes up your container mix for most of these plants? Do you combine soil (or John Innes #3) with compost? Do you add anything to aid drainage? What do you add when you're planting in pots – blood fish and bone?

Everything looks so lush and beautiful!

  5. I've planted my dahlias in the ground yesterday, and next 2 nights temp will only be +2° 😢 do they need covering?

  6. My kind of gardening 😊, especially as I only have a small backyard. This gives me more inspiration than most of the content on Gardeners World!

  7. Such an inspiring episode! I have always felt guilty about not planting out my pots feeling it’s a job not finished…(although they look pretty )now I realise I have accidentally got a container garden😂Sophie you have completely opened my eyes to all of the possibilities …myself and my six year old grandson planted up a couple of delphinium tubers in sandwich bags as per your instructions and they are flourishing… we are both as excited as each other to see them growing !Will they be ok in a big pot? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and keeping things down to earth…pun intended.

  8. Loving your videos. How do you prevent vine weevils destroying plants in pots? I’ve lost many lovely plants because of them

  9. Your containers look amazing and all your plants look so healthy. You have a beautiful garden. Not gardening related, but please can I ask the colour and make of your nail varnish? I've got so many but can't get the right red! Yours looks like the shade I'm looking for. Thanks in advance. x
