LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Guns to Gardens Louisville will host its next safe-surrender, gun-disposal event on Sunday, May 31, offering people a way to get rid of unwanted firearms safely and anonymously.

The event runs from 2-4 p.m. at Grace Hope Presbyterian Church, 702 E. Breckinridge St., Louisville, KY 40203.

Organizers say they will accept unwanted guns and dismantle them on-site using chop saws. The dismantled pieces will later be transformed into garden tools, art, and jewelry.

Anonymous drop-off; anyone can bring unwanted guns.$50 Kroger gift card for each person surrendering one or more guns.Guns must be unloaded before entering church property and placed in the trunk or rear of the vehicle.Skilled personnel will remove firearms from vehicles and take them to a chop saw for disabling while the person is present.Serial numbers will be recorded to document the gun’s destruction.Ammunition will not be accepted.

Guns to Gardens Louisville is an interfaith group that says it is working to address gun violence by helping move the community from a gun culture to what it calls a “life-giving culture.”
