SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center is a hidden gem in the South Bay. It’s celebrating its 20th anniversary on Saturday, May 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a “Meet the Artist” event.

The museum recently unveiled their newest exhibition featuring several major metal works by South Bay artist Michael Leaf, marking the first phase of a new outdoor sculpture garden. The exhibition has been in the works for years.

For Leaf, this is extra special. Leaf recalls riding his bike past the museum as a kid and to have his work on display there feels remarkable to him.

Officials say attendance at the museum has jumped since the instillation. If you can’t make the meet and greet, you can always stop between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
