GARDENERS with an eye for bagging a bargain and bringing fresh flowers and plants to their own spaces are being invited to a popular Black Isle gathering taking place this weekend.
The Black Isle Horticultural Society is teeing up its May 23 plant sale.
For several years now, the Black Isle Horticultural Society has held a very popular plant sale in the village of Rosemarkie.
As all the carefully nurtured items for sale are raised locally by keen gardeners, this is widely regarded as an ideal opportunity to buy interesting plants that are suited to the local climate and conditions at very reasonable prices.

As well as common ornamental and edible plants, keen gardeners can also expect to find some special herbaceous plants, alpines, native plants, herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers and chilis for the greenhouse, soft fruit and some unusual vegetables.
The fundraising plant sale will be held on Saturday, May 23 on the grass outside the Gordon Memorial Hall in Rosemarkie. It will run from 11am until 1pm.
BIHS secretary Graham Sullivan said: “Our plant sale in Rosemarkie is a great opportunity for local gardeners to find interesting plants, and to chat to other gardeners.
“Sometimes people will buy plants that they haven’t thought of growing before, or that they haven’t wanted to risk trying because they’ve been so expensive.

“We don’t put all the plants out at once, so there will still be a good selection available if you don’t arrive at the start. We use different coloured lolly sticks to show the prices of the plants, and we’re able to take payments by card or phone as well as cash.”
