could be any random bug that did it, a few holes in the leaves wont hurt the plant. any sorts of flowers you plant and nearbye piles of leaves will attract insect predators that will eat those ones eating your plants too.
Wasps, spiders, and centipedes are a bit freaky but they are important. My garden is surrounded by lots of wild flowers and there are tons of bugs but because all the predatory ones are there I dont have too many pests.
