A man in his 20s was left with head and leg injuries

Police raced to a street in Oldham after a man was injured and ‘attacked with a garden fork’ in a disturbance. Paramedics and officers from Greater Manchester Police attended the incident on Ammon Wrigley Close near the town centre.
There were reports of an ongoing disturbance at around 4pm. A man in his 20s was found with an injury to his head and leg which are non-life threatening or life-changing. He was taken to hospital from the scene.
It’s understood a knife and a garden fork were used in the attack. One witness said the victim was stabbed in the leg.

A police car remained at the scene throughout the evening. Multiple police vehicles and an ambulance descended on the incident before a suspect, in his 30s, was arrested and taken into custody.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 4.10pm today (Tuesday 19 May 2026), we were called to reports of an ongoing disturbance on Ammon Wrigley Close in Oldham.

“Officers attended the scene and located a man in his 20s with an injury to his head and leg which were described as non-life threatening or life-changing.
“A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody for questioning. Investigations are ongoing.”
