After years of planning and fundraising, the Roswell Public Library is ready to construct its outdoor learning area for young children. Library staff added a twist to an event held on Saturday that would normally be characterized as a groundbreaking ceremony. Guests arrived to find loose soil carefully placed atop the decorative boulders outside the library, facing North Fourth Street. And colorful hand trowels replaced golden shovels. Children’s Garden-Jardin de Niños will be a play-and-learn area outside the library, enclosed within a fence, and will be for local families with young children. So the ceremony was in keeping with the site’s purpose of helping young children’s minds blossom, and the trowels still allowed for some soil shifting by the small children.
