Hi all! I need some help with my plant. It has had a white residue since I bought it—I assumed it was just dirty from soap or from being packed together with other plants. This is my first pothos and I'm new to the hobby, so any care tips or feedback would be great.
Can anyone tell me if this white color is normal or if it looks like a fungus?

This is a philodendron, not a pothos. However, both plants are very similar, and when I get that white film, it’s usually from the minerals in my tap water.
If you live somewhere with hard water, it’s probably that. Otherwise, it looks great!
You can wipe the leaves gently with a wet paper towel, but it may not come off. Just looks like hard water stains to me.
Best way for me to tell the difference between a pothos and a philo is how compact the vines/leaves are. Philos tend to have a more bushy/together/drapery type of trellisy look that most people want from their pothos but dont realize it’s more of a Philodendron quality. Pothos tend to shoot out long vines, reaching for more sun and places to climb almost in a “leggy” way. I also notice that Philo tend to have more rounded hearts whereas phothos have more tear drop heart shape leaves.
Just thought I’d pop in with a little tip.
