Hi. We’ve talked about getting rid of grass for a while, but haven’t taken the steps. Last year, I hired an organic lawn company to plant micro clover, but that didn’t quite work. About 4 to 6 weeks ago, the city tore up part of our yard and replaced some of the sidewalk. As shown in the picture, many of my neighbors have put straw down, but we don’t want grass to grow there. Should we just get micro clover seed to put down? Should we do straw then micro clover? Then for the rest of the yard that isn’t torn up- not sure what do with that either. It looks like I’m in zone 6a (northeast Ohio). Image is a tree lawn that is mostly dirt, with a replaced sidewalk.

Since it’s near the road you may want to go white Dutch clover, in my experience it’s easier to establish and stands up better to urban pollution and foot traffic. Just keep up with watering 1-2 times a day before it germinates.
