Tree is growing fine other than has yellowish dots around leaves. I assumed that was normal growth but it seems to attract ants that spend all day going up and down the tree and linger around the spots. Unless I’m mistaken they don’t seem to be aphids because the spots don’t move and are fairly large. Is this something I should spray the tree for, kill the ants or just let it be? The tree does have insect damage on some leaves but nothing crazy. I figure that’s just natural.
Location is Virginia. Planted tree last fall.

Yeah, those spots are natural. Look up „extrafloral nectaries“.
But keep an eye on those ants, in case they want to settle their herd of aphids on your cherry.
