This time of spring brings longer days, warmer soil and a feeling that anything is possible. There’s so much you can sow and grow now, BUT there are certain crops that NEED to be sown now for best results and to guarantee that we will have food cropping and in the stores for winter. Prepare now and your future self will thank you later!

  1. Gosh I love a three colour salad! Got the basil in. Got the greenhouse up. Happy gardening from sunny Norwich!

  2. I am going to plant out my one experimental butter nut squash in the same way as your squash… I presume that is okay.

  3. Thanks Ben! I have never really been a fan of spiders, but didn't truly start to fear them until moving south. Now I regularly encounter two varieties of Black Widow, Brown Widows, and the occasional Brown Recluse – all of which can result in an ER visit. I know they all have a place in the world, so unless they are a danger to my family or pets then I let them be. We also have SO MANY beautiful and helpful spiders too, so I have learned to be much more tolerant the older I have gotten. 😄

  4. I have severe arachnophobia. If I see one I freeze, shake and cry just from terror. But I never hurt them. But Wolf Spiders and False Black widow spiders make me scream for a spilt moment. Anything else doesn't bother ne, not even snakes etc.

  5. Not afraid of spiders but the blighters that really make me jump are the frogs! I don’t have a phobia of those either but when something jumps two foot in an unpredictable direction…

  6. I used to kill them, but a friend said they are ancient goddesses, so I no longer kill them, I marvel at them….

  7. Did he just nibble a seed so water can penetrate it faster? Why yes. Yes he did. 54 here…Thats a really cool trick. Thankyou 🙂

  8. Can you let me know your favourite go to seed trays. I got some cheap ones from Aldi and they have been hard to remove seedlings from. I also like to minimise effort of lots of potting on if possible! Thanks

  9. Ben, have you ever tried growing Kalettes? I ordered some from Kings seeds through my national allotment membership and they’re now about 4” high. I’m so excited to harvest them. Stella from Stella’s veg garden told me I need a lot of room for each plant which made me laugh as I’ve grown 16 seedlings haha. I’ve gifted 6 to my friend. ❤

  10. Yes I am afraid of spiders. Though I can overcome it if I feel I have to pick them up. Though where I live there's a very large spider that I can't overcome my fear of, despite it being harmless.

My late father used to plant sweetcorn in double rows. That seemed to work. So planting in blocks might not be the only solution.

  11. Beginner gardener here. I believe im in year 3 but feels like year 2. Yes im terrified of spiders and if i see one in my garden its time to call it a day. I really cannot 😞🤚

  12. 14:13 Is that an anacacho orchid tree?! I have one in my back yard and the blooms are just gorgeous! Yours looks amazing!

  13. May is now in the winter season, this video is out of date, it was made 2 weeks ago when May was still spring..

  14. I love spiders and always take great care to move them outside when my wife asks me to get rid of one from inside. The enemy of my enemy is my friend 🙂

  15. Oh, please, don't jump. it's nice to see you and there is no need to imitate the US style of presentation.

  16. I'm new to gardening and this is my first season (which I'm treating as an experimental phase.) What's digging into my pots at night? It doesn't seem to be eating the seeds or small plants, it's just burrowing in the soil and causing disruption.

  17. We’ve used a turned upside down circle of a wire tomato cage as a circular pattern for planting corn in a cluster of 3 to 4 seeds for great pollination along with the three sisters.
