Hey all, Hoping you can help a novice gardener.

Planted this bush lemon 2 weeks ago. Used a quality citrus soil, prepped the soil for 2 weeks before hand with some clay breaker. Honestly thought I did everything right.

As you can see the leaves are starting to yellow and fall off. understand it might be in shock from being transplanted from it's bag. I didn't ruffle the root ball too much during transplant.

It should get plenty of sun but it ended up raining for a week after (SEQLD) I planted it. So it could also have wet feet. Trying not to over water it.

From my research it might be magnesium deficiency but I'm just not sure.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Nitrogen deficiency I think. Magnesium the veins stay green and it starts yellowing from the tip of the leaf.

Cold temps and transplant shock would mean it is having trouble accessing nitrogen even if there is plenty available.

Try a foliar nitrogen fertilizer and see if it picks up, if not it could be cold shock or root rot issues if you have overwatered.

Yellowing around the veins can be from phytopthora.

It’s hard to see but the tree looks to have some exposed roots. Damage to roots from being too shallow or root rot infection may result in similar chlorosis.

If those are exposed roots I’d back fill a few cms of soil and lay mulch to retain moisture and protect roots.
In case it’s root rot/phytopthora, id water the rootzone with phosphoric acid root rot treatment and spray the foliage with a systemic copper based fungicide like eco copper.

In a week follow up with seasol treatment to the rootzone and foliar treatment of a weak solution of Charlie carp or powerfeed.
