Home research seminar slated June 20 by FOC

The Friends of the Cabildo will help get homeowners on the road to learning about the history of local properties June 20 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum in the Old U.S. Mint, 400 Esplanade Ave.

Tulane University architecture lecturer Robert J. Cangelosi Jr. will present “Researching Your New Orleans Property,” an in-depth seminar about historic dwellings and their lineages, including how to find primary sources rather than using oral traditions and secondary sources, and preparing a “chain of title.” Documents showing the ownership of a property, can in theory, go as far back as the early 1700s during the French Colonial period.
