Join in, rain or shine, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, to see some of the most creative and beautiful gardens Evanston has to offer. Spend an afternoon strolling through eight private gardens, opened to fund scholarships for the Evanston Ecology Center’s summer camps. And don’t miss this year’s public site, where indigenous gardens will showcase food and plants native to our area.

Find something for every taste, from the formal and traditional to more habitat-focused installations offering the dual benefit of natural beauty and the opportunity to learn about ecologically beneficial garden choices.

A mini-preview of a few of the properties featured on the walk:

An 1880s home that artfully displays both traditional and native styles.

An expansive backyard featuring large swaths of native and cultivated perennials that pop with color and texture all season long.

An eclectic mix of shade-loving plants and containers makes full use of this deep lot’s inviting space under one of the largest cottonwood trees in Evanston.

Before the day of the walk, admission is $20 for EEA members and $25 for nonmembers. Groups of six or more are $20 per participant. Day-of-event tickets are $30 per person.

All proceeds from the Evanston Garden Walk fund full scholarships, including before/after-care and lunches, for children to attend the Ecology Center’s summer camps.
