Creating a Full Shade Container Garden Oasis #2026Garden

In today’s garden video, I’m creating a beautiful shade container display using a mix of containers gathered from around my yard! 🌿 I bring together pots of all sizes to design a layered, stacked look under my crape myrtle tree, which naturally provides the perfect shady conditions for shade-loving plants.

This area of the garden gets filtered light, so I wanted to take full advantage of the shade to build a lush and colorful container garden. I start by placing a Japanese maple in a larger focal container and underplant it with vibrant heuchera for texture and color contrast. Then, I bring in a chest planter I created last fall, filled with ornamental grass and heuchera, to help frame and anchor the display.

Once everything is arranged, I begin planting the containers with a variety of shade-friendly plants including heuchera, apple blossom geraniums, salmon and orange geraniums, SunPatiens, and trailing sedum for added movement. In the stacked container display, I combine heuchera, brunnera, geraniums, and sedum to create a full, layered look that thrives in the shade.

This project is all about using what you have, designing with intention, and creating a peaceful garden moment filled with texture, color, and life—even in the shade!
