We’ve been developing this one for a few years. It’s fun to see the perennial plants returning and watch them flower at different times. I’ve also direct seeded annuals in the gaps, including these bright red Poppies. This bed seems to change by the hour and the pollinators are enjoying the early flowers. I’ve also planted Sun Gold Cherry tomatoes and some Biquinho Peppers among the flowering plants

I plan on putting one in. Weve got a big ole empty portion of the front yard next to the driveway and grass aint doing any favors
Im working on it. I have a little 16 sqft plot filled to the brim and like 3 actual flowers, but my lawn is half grass half small flowering plants so that helps.
It’s a work in progress. We are taking out our lawn in the front and putting in mostly natives. It will take a couple of years to fill in. We plant some annuals around our veggie garden in the back, but it’s mostly just tossing out some seeds. A large chunk of our backyard is a weedy mess, future projects. A pollinator garden near the veggies is on the list.
I definitely want something like yours. I’m gathering inspiration before making a plan. Those poppies – 😍 Thank you for sharing!
Most of our neighborhood is grass with a tree and foundation shrubs and a few annuals in pots. Maybe a raised bed with veggies. Only a handful of houses have anything for the pollinators. Although there does seem a growing interest.
It’s so pretty!
No because I the squirrels and rabbits eat everything that isn’t netted down and I hate having net literally every square foot of space down where I plant seeds, inefficient for wildflowers. To get one 3×3 patch last year I had it locked down with garden staples and nets for like 2 months to get them established and even then they were trying to tear through the netting. I would never hurt them but these guys are crazy.
Yes.
One of the biggest bumblebee magnets its phacelia. I planted phacelia for 3 years now and I always get bumbles pollinating my tomatoes in the summer.
Ofc i have various other plants, aiming for lots of natives outside of phacelia. Lupins are very attractive to the bumbles too
Borage brings in hundreds of bees a day.
