Wondering what this may be attributed to? Genetics? Nutrients?

    I’ve heard some say this is due to temperature and also genetics, especially with heirlooms. Half of my plants are doing this and I planted out early. It’s harmless, if you like it you can take the seeds from that part.

    I think it’s a genetic thing, IME some varieties are more prone to it than others. I’ll prune them off if they’re getting really long or if it’s too late in the season for the flowers to do anything.
