I have somewhat of a small yard here in Denver, but it's great for my dog to run around in, etc. However, with the dry winter/spring we've had and his peeing, I have this section that's failed to grow with new grass and it's looking a bit rough. The rest of the lawn is growing fine. It started to get this way last summer/fall but i held off to see how it looked this year. I'm debating about whether to re-sod this area or rather put some flagstone/sand around the garden beds (maybe 3 feet out) to give it a little texture but to also could be a little area to put some lawn chairs. There would still be a little section to re-sod or re-seed though, just not the whole thing. Thoughts?

If that’s dog damage, I would not replant seed unless:
    – renovate soil by adding organic matter and something of help balance the acidity from the urine. Pelletized Limestone maybe. Research.
    – train your dog to potty elsewhere.

    Or

Remove some soil, add crushed stone and flagging/stepping stones for an informal patio.

Or spend quite a bit and have a professional patio installed.

The first picture has a confusing perspective to me. The planter on the left, the front board, looks upright at one need and flat on the ground at the other end.
