In my experience, elephant garlic is much more mild than the normal shortneck/hardneck, so best not to use for normal garlic, at least if you aren't doing "just" garlic stuff

You don't need to do any of that to plant garlic. It grows the same.
Just put them underground and they will grow. You can eat the purple flowers too if you let them grow flowers.
