What disease is this? Google wasnt much help. I went ahead and cut the tree down to a 2 foot tall stump. Ill burn all the limbs this weekend probably.

Is the log safe to use?

Will it be safe to graft onto next year?

Anything else i need to do to stop this from spreading to my already grafted pears?

Yeah that’s a weird one. Looks like coral spot but it clearly isn’t. Look at it under a field lense and see if you can see the sporangium to confirm it’s a fungal pathogen, cut into them with a razor to see if it’s insect damage like some sort of gall former. If neither it’s viral or bacterial, in which case it’s best to not try and graft to it.

Dig it out replace it with anything other than a Bradford Pear. Rust and fire blight are common, but not sure it’s either of those.

It’s cedar apple rust I believe

Only cure is to burn it down, salt the earth, and curse all that the tree has shaded

Trim it! Use a chainsaw, and make a single cut just above the ground.
