I don’t think these are raspberries or strawberries. Growing in yard near woods.

Edit: Central Virginia – grows in shady area with evening sun

Mock strawberry, Potentilla indica. Not toxic.

Mock strawberry, edible but not delicious. Basically they evolved to look like strawberries but without expending the caloric effort to taste good. Animals go “ohhh strawberry!” And eat them and spread the seed.

Mock berries or as my Gandy called them snake berries. When he was a kid back in the day; him and a friend of his came across these while collecting wasp to set free in a church during their evening services.

Long story short, Gandy called them snake berries because they tricked him. 😂

We call them wild strawberries. They spread and get into everything. Hard to get rid of. Non toxic, not harmful to pets.

Mock strawberry, the flavor inspiration for strawberry La Croix.
