My husband and I bought a Cape last year that was built in 1950 so unfortunately there is no direct access to the backyard or any sort of porch/patio. We’re planning to have a concrete slab poured so that we can eventually add a pergola and have a space to put our outdoor furniture. However we are struggling with the placement and would love some opinions!
Yellow circles are to indicate potential placements.
First photo: looking out of the kitchen window. First circle is closest to house but also closest to the water spigot, fence gate and basement doors. This area would also mean that we have less privacy since our neighbors driveways/yards are visible. Second circle is more upper middle of yard and would provide more privacy due to garages. (Everyone has detached garages that are set back from the houses)
Second photo: Another view of the upper middle yard
Third photo: next to the fence closest to the side of garage. Downside is that this would limit how we can set up furniture and we’d be facing towards the neighbors garage and rest of backyard view is partially blocked by tree.
Something to note: there is more yard behind the garage that is completely empty for something like a swing set for the future when kids come into the picture.
What do y’all think?
