I've had this mango tree for a couple years and last year planted it in the ground. We foolishly didn't really think when we planted it and it's only ~1.4m away from the fence in our backyard.

I'm pretty confident that we need to move it (if we do it'll be moved into the middle of our front yard) but some people say we can just prune it back year on year?

If we do move it, is there a time of year it's best to do? Thanks!

What makes you think 1.4m is too close to the fence? It will take decades for the trunk to get big enough to affect the fence

But if you’re going to transplant now is a good time to start. You can stage the root cutting to increase chance of success
