DIG it up, treat the soil so it is in a good condition for lawn growing and lay some new lawn seeds, is whats id do, im no expert. but im not sure it can be saved.

Looks like it might have had a bad infestation of lawn grubs. I’m dealing with a similar situation not quite this bad though.
Planning on getting rid of the weeds and pests to start with then aerate the soil. Seed and top dress the dead patches. Water and fertilise and keep on top of the weeds and insects.
Will take a little while but if you’ve had a good crack at it leading into the warmer months hopefully you’ll turn it around.

Looks like a water problem to me.
That’s not lawn anymore and needs digging up.
