I have several evergreen type trees in my back yard and one is shedding bark. I’ve seen raccoons in many of the trees, but no others have this issue. Is this just what this kind of tree does, or maybe some other critter damage? Seattle, WA area

Im no expert but that looks like some type of damage to me
Looks like some kind of cedar. Could be abrasions from deer or something
