Two Mountain Magic tomato plants. Both started from seed at the same time. Both cared for the same, planted in the same type of grow bag, in the same area on the south side of my house (in zone 8a), and in similar potting soil. One has really taken off while the other is taking its time. Any ideas why?

One of a thousand reasons. Light, water, genetics, nutrition, root health, a random bird shitting in the pot adding more nitrogen, temperature, etc etc etc.

Assuming all else held constant (which it’s not), welcome to phenotypes. Seeds of the same cultivar are like kids, similar to their parents yet different from one another.

To further the other point I made, it’s almost impossible to hold all constant, there will be slight differences in things like how much water each received, how much light or nutrition each received, etc.

Regardless, both look great. Be mindful of overwatering the smaller one while the watering demands for the larger one are significantly increasing.
