This is an orchid I’ve had since February. The blooms it initially came with have wilted off and new ones just started growing. It also started growing a new leaf but as seen the other leaves are damaged and different colors. What does this mean and what can I do?

To me it looks like the leaves are sunburned. Do you keep it indirect sunlight? I would cut off the old stem from the original flowers. Pull out the plastic pot and check the roots to make sure that they are green and hydrated. You don’t want it to sit in the water though. Soak it for 15 minutes or so then let the pack completely drain. You should only need to water it about once a week depending on the humidity in your home. Check out some YouTube videos for more good tips.

They’re sunburnt for sure, try less light 🙂

Yes, there is sunburn, but what’s most concerning is the stem (formed by the leaves) is turning yellow, signaling stem rot. If I had a crystal ball, my guess would be that each of the leaves will yellow and fall off. There’s not a lot you can do if it’s to the core. Just next time try not to get water in the crown or between the leaves. No spraying or misting the leaves. Roots look fine to me. I wouldn’t stress it out with a repot.

Don’t get water in between the leaves it causes rot in the crown. . And will drop leaves and die.
Only water when it’s dry. I let it stay dry for a couple days too.

Cut these yellow leaves off when the plant is dry, since water + wounds lead to rot and also the plant can rot easily so only water when the leaves are soft to the touch
