Why this looks “off”? Not the plants but stonework / edges
Added the lawn edging stones to the right and something feels off about this. Is it nonsense squiggly or ??? Maybe my eye just needs to adjust to it or can someone point out what is wrong
i think it looks good 🤷‍♂️ maybe just give it some time. you’re probably looking at the details rather than the overall feel

Looks busy for such a confined space. One curve might work better than two per edged line. Also, I’m not placing blame on OP for this decision, but it seems weird to see a floor to ceiling window on the ground level without a view. Those curtains do some heavy lifting

I think because it’s too small to be a patio and top large to be a transition step. It just looks out of place.

It is hard to tell because nothing is really in fully leafed out. Probably needs color in spots but to tell from this picture

Inconsistent curves. Right has gentle organic curves. Left has deep, awkward, non-smooth curves.

Design-wise, it’s both an edge for the grass/planting bed but also leads right to gate which makes it look like the edge to a path as well. A path that widens and narrows making it a weirdly shaped path.

It’s off because your neighbors house is center view…

Plant or place objects to eliminate the appearance of vertical lines, especially at wall corners. It will help give the space more depth and lessen the weight of the large monotone blocks enclosing natural looking elements. Consider plants in front of the fencing as well.

It looks like a path to nowhere.

The curve in on the left of the flagstone/edging that sweeps towards the house feels too dramatic. I would extend the landscaping there and soften that swoop
