A community garden is this year’s recipient of the Kyrle Civic Award.

The annual award, presented by Ross-on-Wye Town Council, recognises individuals and organisations who make a positive impact on the town and its people.

This year’s winner is Ross Community Garden, which was honoured on April 27 during the Annual Town Meeting by last year’s recipients, The Hub.

An independent judging panel said: “We unanimously agreed that Ross Community Garden is a truly worthy winner of this year’s award.”

The garden was commended for its inclusive activities, support for people who feel isolated or have learning disabilities, and its environmental initiatives, such as a zero-waste stall that redistributes surplus food from local supermarkets.

The scheme also hosts a range of cultural and outdoor events throughout the year.

At its core, Ross Community Garden fosters a strong sense of community.

A Kyrle Civic Award plaque is displayed at the Town Hall.
