I've done several terrariums and just recently had a mold issue in one of my other ones and now I noticed this in a different terrarium and it looks different from my other moldy failure. My confidence will buckle if this one doesn't make it too.
What is it and will it do damage?
I've had terrible luck with getting springtails in my area too. I grab some at Petco, and they're almost always dead on arrival, or I get a couple then never see them again.
Thanks for any input!

Springtail advice – if the containers at Petsmart are dry, the bugs will be dead. Try to find one with some water in it. When you get home, open it up, add some more water, like a few drops. Springtails will live on the surface of the water, don’t worry about drowning them. Best way to keep springtails long term, IMO, is to switch them into a container with charcoal and water. Better culture substrate than the clay the petsmart containers have. If there are only a few alive in the cultures you’re buying, just add a little water and wait a bit, they will reproduce. Even just a few will repopulate the culture.
I also put a small slice of potato in the charcoal culture, one time I checked on it and it was borderline gross how many springtails were in there (i made a post about it, check my history)
If that all fails, if there are any reptile pet stores in the area, they will likely carry springtail cultures.
