I've had a bird of paradise plant in my office for several years now. Suddenly the leaves have started to not look good. There are three stems coming up in the middle where the leaves died and I cut it off. I cut them off at the base of the leaf but left the stem. I'm second-guessing if I should have just cut the stem down, because now the tips are brown and nothing is happening. Some of the other leaves are deteriorating as well. I tried trimming off the dead part of the leave, but now they look silly with half a leaf.

About a year ago I had replanted it into a bigger pot, but I feel like the problems have happened over the last couple months. I tried moving it away from the window for a few weeks, but that did not change anything. Typically the blinds on my window are up so it does get sun in the afternoon. Any ideas? I've had this since it was a baby and don't want anything to happen to it.

Any advice?

Cut down to the stem, it’s not going to put off a new leaf and any energy needs to be put towards making new ones, not maintaining old stems. It looks like it needs more light and check make sure it’s getting enough water. If you are in the US and it’s summer, it’s going to be soaking up lots of water and wanting more light.
