Due to space, I’m growing my dahlias in containers this year— some big pots for the tall varieties and some 7-gallon grow bags for the “shorter” ones (no dwarfs, so they’ll still be 3-4 ft!)

My Robin Hood double-sprouted (yay!) but I’m worried about it having enough space and support (I do plan to stake it very soon, and figure if I can stake towards center that might help..). I’d rather not disturb it, but should I be considering recentering it so the sprouts are closer to middle of the grow bag? Would love any input! TIA!

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

Amateur here. I think moving it might set it back? It looks like the fence is right next to it so that might provide extra support to whatever you put. Adding to that, I’ve heard its best to put stakes in at the same time as planting so as to avoid accidentally piercing any tubers/roots. So just be extra careful when you do, I guess.
