At the bottom center there was this clump of leaves with what looked like mycelium strings, is that possibly leaf mold? This pile is old, and I know I haven't turned it properly. Just been winging it.

Looking amazing. Fungal hyphae yes! Leaf mold or mould, as they call it in England, is a fantastic resource of minerals and fungal activity.
Looks great. Composting is as much an art as it is science. Like most art, compost can look terrible until its finished.
