Organisers of a garden and food show have praised everyone who made the event a success including sellers, shoppers and volunteers.
The Rotary Club of Stamford St Martin’s hosted their Garden and Food Show yesterday (Sunday) at the town meadows.
The garden stalls included plants and ornaments while the food offerings ranged from cakes and cheese to burgers and pies.

There were several fairground attractions for younger visitors to enjoy and a number of community fundraising stands including MindSpace Stamford and Stamford and Rutland Cancer Support.
The event was free to enter but cadets from Stamford Welland Academy helped with bucket collections throughout the day. Profits were also be boosted by a raffle to win a wheelbarrow full of alcohol and the Rotary club’s own plant stall.
Just a few days before the event the club issued an urgent appeal for rhubarb donations to sell after its own crops fell short. Luckily, several generous donations arrived on the day and the team sold out.

Club member James Edwards said: “It was a great show with a wonderful community atmosphere.
“A day like this doesn’t happen without a lot of hard work and goodwill, and we want to say a genuinely huge thank you to everyone who made it so special – our stallholders for filling the show with so many beautiful plants, crafts and produce, our visitors for bringing such great energy and our volunteers for giving their time so generously.
“Events like this are a reminder of just what a brilliant community Stamford is. We hope everyone went home with muddy hands, happy hearts, and at least one new plant they didn’t strictly need.”
Proceeds are still being counted but all money will go to support good causes locally and internationally.
