These pop up in my front yard every year. I think they are from the root system of a tree that was cut down. I just keep mowing over them but I’m curious if I can stop them somehow.

  1. Idk but I’d be curious about letting them grow. Might add layers to a green privacy barrier if they get tall.

Bro… those are trees and the result of the tree in your front lawn shedding it’s seeds.

Neighbor behind me had a cherry tree that kept doing this to my yard. It was infuriating.

Those look like crepe myrtle shoots / suckers to me. Look them up on the web and if you agree then you can look up how to kill them.

Use a small hand trowel and dig down aways and pull them out with roots included. Simple. They’re sprouting from seeds blown onto your lawn from nearby trees. Very common.

    Selective application of Roundup.

On a windless day, get a small jar to hold some Roundup in, and a small paintbrush. Go around the lawn and carefully paint these suckers’ leaves with Roundup. Painting just 2-3 leaves per sucker should do. Be careful not to spray/spill the Roundup on the grass.
