This summer another plant decided to grow with our Crabapple. We were unaware until the leaves started dropping.
Located in Victoria
2 (and a half) questions:
Which one is the crabapple (the one dropping leaves or the green leaves)?
Is it okay to remove the other species and should I just cut it at the base?

Looks like a rootstock sucker. Pull back the mulch from the trunk and see if there’s a graft union lower down. Or it might be at soil level. The tree might be planted a few cm too deep
